Louis Vuitton is celebrating 130 years of its iconic monogram this year. The story begins in 1854 with trunks. In the 1870s the Damier pattern was introduced as a way to stop counterfeit products. In 1896 the LV monogram was introduced in another attempt to foil counterfeiters.
